Hi, I’m Ann.
River + Stone grew out of my own experience as both a physician and a patient.
I trained in conventional pediatrics and completed my residency at one of the country's leading children's hospitals. I loved medicine, but over time I began asking bigger questions. I wanted to understand not only what was making people sick, but why.
Then my own health changed everything.
After developing Hashimoto's thyroiditis, I discovered functional medicine, not as a physician, but as a patient. It changed the questions I asked, how I thought about health, and ultimately how I wanted to practice medicine..
River + Stone grew from that journey.
The best medicine begins with listening.
I don't believe health is found in a single supplement, a perfect diet, or one laboratory test.
I believe it begins by understanding the whole person.
That's where every visit begins.
My role isn't to "fix" you.
It's to help you understand your body well enough that you can become an active participant in your own health.
My Training
I completed my pediatric residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), followed by certification through The Institute for Functional Medicine, Pediatric Integrative Medicine training through the University of Arizona, and additional training at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine.
Before becoming a physician, I spent nearly a decade working in finance, mergers and acquisitions, and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. That experience taught me to think analytically, ask difficult questions, and look for patterns, all skills that continue to shape how I approach medicine today.
Before Medicine…
Why River + Stone?
River + Stone is a continuation of the work I began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I founded and cared for patients through my functional medicine practice from 2021 to 2024.
When my husband accepted a position as a cardiothoracic surgeon in Spokane, our family relocated to the Pacific Northwest. River + Stone became the natural next chapter.
Although the location has changed, my approach to medicine has not. My goal remains the same: to create a practice built on time, partnership, thoughtful investigation, and helping patients understand the "why" behind their health.
